The Batlhabine land claim is still incomplete, according to sources at the Batlhabine Traditional Authority Office. The initial research report confirms that several farms have been awarded to the Batlhabine community. Many farms in the Letsitele Valley are nearly finalized, although the matter is being handled by the Batlhabine Community Property Association (CPA).
Other farms, including those in Thabina Valley, Yosemite, Uplands, and Longvalley, which are still in the Lephepane area, are also part of the claim. However, conflicts over land grabbing have arisen in the Ntwanano area of Khujwane. Additionally, Thabina Valley, awarded to the Batlhabine community, remains disputed between Bakgaga Ba Maake and the Batlhabine Traditional Authority.
This week, a Batlhabine delegation visited Bakgaga Ba Maake to defuse tensions at Sefateng, where illegal provisions of stands have occurred. The Bakgaga claim the disputed area belongs to them, while the Batlhabine assert their knowledge of the land.
